Lis McDermott's photography is featured in the May issue of Perfect Wedding magazine. The article about Sarah & Andy's wedding at Orchardleigh last September featured in the 'real weddings' section, shows off Lis' fantastic wedding photos.
Despite the awful weather outside - rain and high winds, the venue is amazing, and Sarah looked absolutely beautiful.
Lis McDermott photography is offering 'Model for a day' teen shoots. Have a day in the studio with custom lighting and backgrounds with a variety of your outfits or on location - either way, you'll love the experience and the results. Contact Lis for more information.
Each day Lis takes a photo (where possible - some days things around the house get photographed) and then each image is put onto a large canvas, so that by the end of the year there are 365 images on a large 20 x 30 picture.
Its a great way of remembering all the different jobs that Lis McDermott Photography has worked on during the year, and also brings back some great memories.
The image to the left is a small part of the 2009 - 2010 year (I work April to April).
Lis has published a book called 'Day trip to the Southbank London'.
The book captures London at its best. It contains photographs of London and Southbank taken during the day and through the night.

Rachel recently spent a 1-1 day with Lis concentrating on people photography.
"I have learnt so much and you really have given me the knowledge and confidence to go ahead and try portrait/people photography".
So much so, that Rachel has now ordered herself a new professional camera.
Below are some of Rachel’s shots from the day.
Contact Lis if you’d like to have a 1 - 1 photographic training session.
Over the past year Lis has been taking pictures of the band Stackridge working in the studio on their new album which is being released soon.
She's very excited because her pictures are being used on the inside of the CD cover. To find out more about their album and to order copies, go to: www.heliumrecords.co.uk
The Feel Good Factor is taking off well. Clients are feeling really good about themselves and giving Lis positive feedback. She is now getting referrals from previous clients. Lis McDermott Photography has recently begun tasteful 'feel good' sessions for couples, which are proving to be a great success. Click here to see a small example of images.

Lis has recently been able to make use of her musical expertise within her photography - the best of both worlds. She has photographed images of teachers and young musicians involved in Wider Opportunities sessions for Wiltshire Music Service, and now after completing a successful day of photographing whole class brass and percussion sessions for Gloucestershire Music, she is about to spend further time with their young musicians. The subsequent images are being used for publications and resources.
In November Lis spent a very busy but wonderful day photographing Dads and their young children in The Shire's shopping centre in Trowbridge. This was set up by Wiltshire County Council Sure Start initiative. Dads were invited by the two Children Centres in Trowbridge to come along to the shopping centre and have a portrait taken. The session was advertised in the local papers, and several Dads came along especially to have their pictures taken as a surprise for the Mums! This is hopefully an idea that is going to continue in other areas of the County.
The year ended with the opportunity to photograph two members of the royal family when two of her clients asked Lis to be the official photographer for their events. In November, Prince Charles opened the Orders of St John Care Trust new home, Athelstan House in Malmesbury and then in December, The Countess of Wessex was photographed at a reception for the Meningitis Trust in the Parliament Rooms of Gloucester Cathedral.

As part of Lis' wedding service she always includes a 'pre-wedding' shoot in her wedding packages. These can take place at a venue of the couples choice - somewhere that has special meaning to them.. This is not usually the wedding venue as people want to keep that for the 'big day'. The images taken at the 'pre-wedding' shoot can be used in a variety of ways:
- An image can be put into a large mount for guests to sign on during the wedding day.
- An image can be used for a 'save the day' card .
- An image can be incorporated into invitations and other wedding stationary.
- A number of images can be used within a personal and individually designed guest book.
Despite the 'recession', Lis is still busy meeting couples who have planned and are planning their weddings for this year and also for 2010. After photographing Australian residents Ruth & Andrew's wedding in January 08 (see the news article below - Your and Your Wedding mag), January 2009 began with her photographing the wedding of one of Ruth's school mates, Dominic, who married Selina. Yet another link is that in August, Lis will be photographing one of Ruth's bridesmaids, Susi (who lives in Bolivia). What a small world!
If you are interested in one to one training in either photography or working with Photoshop, please contact Lis to ask her about the different options available.
